About Us!

Hello! We are Leo and Carrie Fiala, founders of Captain Jack’s Campground. During the Covid-19 Pandemic when everything was closed, kids were out of school and the one thing they were still able to do was go outside! When many were quarantined and frustrated, we saw it as an opportunity to get back to the basics and spend more quality time with family! Which is what Captain Jacks Campground hopes to do for other families; connect with nature, get back to the basics, spend quality time with family and friends.

Captain Jack’s Campground hopes to provide a great atmosphere for everyone to enjoy!

One of the biggest motivation for our family opening our own business was to get to spend a little more time with family. So only seems fit to share a little about ours.

We have 4 wonderful boys, ages 5, 6, 9, 18. Cillian our youngest (5) is the classic youngest child with a wild side. He has learned what it takes to survive as the youngest of all boys. Tommy is 6, he thinks he is the boss ALWAYS. Which is a struggle at times but we only hope he grows up and uses that fierceness to his advantage to move mountains. Tristin (9) he is more techy than the rest of the boys he would rather be building, drawing, or playing video games, but he is excited to begin this journey on the campground. Marcius (18) just graduated, Class of 2024! Marcius plans to attend Missouri Welding institute in the Fall.

As for Leo and I. Prior to moving to Summersville, Leo worked as a firefighter/EMT for 6 years. Leo now works part time at a local dispensary. As for me, I have been a nurse for almost 12 years and currently work as a telemetry nurse. We relocated from Harrisonville, MO where we owned a small homestead.

We do have farm animals on the back of the property as well as some other furry friends on the campground. Don’t be alarmed if you hear a rustle in the trees one of our campground cats Lucy loves to climb.
